Israeli-American startup OwnBackup, specializing in cloud data backup and recovery, has raised $23.25 million in a funding round led by Insight Venture Partners and Vertex Ventures. The round also saw participation from existing investors, including Innovation Endeavors, Horizon Capital, and Salesforce Ventures. To date, OwnBackup has raised a total of $50 million.
Founded in 2015 by Ariel Berkman, Ori Yankelev, Sam Gutmann (CEO), and Eran Cohen, the company has rapidly grown to employ 121 people across its offices in New Jersey, Tel Aviv, and London, with plans to double its workforce following this funding round.

With offices in Tel Aviv, New Jersey and London, the company was founded by CEO Sam Gutmann, CTO Ariel Berkman, Orii Yankelev and COO Eran Cohen, and has 120 employees of whom 40 are in Israel. OwnBackup provides SaaS-based solutions designed to protect against data loss and corruption from human error, malicious intent, or software issues, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The platform’s capabilities include automated backups, anomaly detection, and recovery tools, positioning OwnBackup as a leader in cloud data security.
